Updated February 14th, 2020 to include even more I Heart Compliance responses.
“Love what you do, and you’ll never work a day in your life.”
As a technology provider to the compliance community, we are privileged to work with some fantastic brands throughout the world, helping them to not only automate their compliance programs but also elevate the function within their organization. In an environment of evolving regulations, scandals, and rapid business change, it's easy to lose track of what’s most important in compliance, the people.
For us at GAN, people are at the center of everything we do. Compliance is an interesting and exciting profession with some genuinely brilliant people driving change across the globe. Recently we began to wonder; what inspires people to enter the compliance world? And beyond that, what is it that they love most about their jobs?
Hmmm… Love...Compliance...and this week happens to be Valentine’s Day! So we thought, I HEART COMPLIANCE! We took to LinkedIn and asked: What made you fall in love with compliance? We were blown away by your responses. It was, by far, the most engaging social campaign in the history of GAN. Nearly 50 compliance professionals shared their love of compliance and what brought them to the profession.
We wanted to share some of the highlights of that conversation with you here. May we suggest you sit with your special someone, grab a glass of wine, and scroll down to enjoy the very best of I HEART COMPLIANCE!
Why We Heart Compliance
“I love compliance. Working in compliance is hard work but rewarding and essential to any business success. I take great pride in the successes we’ve in our fledgling compliance program and the exciting plans ahead! I’ve learned that it’s not always about ‘rules and procedures’ but also about ‘culture and behaviors’. Compliance allows me to interact with people across all levels and functions of the business forging positive working relationships, helping good people to make great decisions! Integrity is all about doing the right thing, even when no one is watching!”
- Caroline Braddock, European Compliance & Governance Officer at NSK Europe
"A huge part of compliance is the culture. Yes, you need the systems in place but I love promoting a compliance culture....working with all departments to get the high-quality drugs to the patients safely. For me, it always comes down to the patients."
- Chris Goodpaster, Compliance Associate III at Thermo-Fisher Scientific
“I love Compliance because it encourages me to have a positive interaction with so many different areas of our business. It also provides me with the opportunity to forge effective working relationships to make a positive impact to the lives of so many colleagues (and most importantly) learners that we support!!”
- Steve Haynes, Head of Compliance at QA Apprenticeships
“Walking hand in hand through laws, rules & regulations; gazing lovingly at contract clauses pertaining to bribery, sanctions, money laundering or export control, cuddling up around the compliance calendar and awareness training, feeling high on conferences, even little lover fights about policies and discipline. Ahhhh.”
- Sofia El Mansouri, Group Legal & Compliance Manager Jetex
“I fell in love with Compliance because I saw the opportunity to help build and guide good in the world. With a career in Compliance, you help good people make great decisions. You also have the opportunity to help rid the world of social ills such as bribery, human trafficking and privacy violations with the support of an army of well-informed advocates comprised of the employees at the organizations you touch. What’s not to fall in love with?”
- Lisa Beth Lentini, Legal Compliance
"Teaching teams how to understand and maintain compliance and seeing impact when watching improvements being made!"
- Nichola Androjeweski, Compliance Officer at Damira Dental Studios
"The challenge and opportunities were what did it for me. The challenges you face personally and in your business environment, are forever changing. The opportunity to be part of shaping and developing success, that success in the business you work for, the people you work worth, and personal development."
- Kenny Scott, Head of Service Assurance at Webhelp UK
"To work with compliance is a life journey for me. Sometimes is really tough, but I know in the end it will be rewarding. It is not only about following processes, laws, and internal regulations. It is about purpose, value, and love. So much love to do the right thing, no matter what."
- Bruno Galvão Ferola, Compliance Consultant
